CPR & First Aid Requirements in Texas
Texas requires CPR certification for specific school roles including PE instructors, athletic coaches, marching band directors, cheerleading coaches, and school nurses under the Texas Education Code, while individual districts may set broader requirements for general education teachers. Under Senate Bill 261, all students in grades 7-12 must receive CPR instruction before graduation. The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services requires all licensed childcare center staff, including daycare workers, preschool teachers, and foster parents, to maintain current pediatric CPR and First Aid certification. Both AHA and Red Cross certifications are accepted.
