CPR & First Aid Requirements in Washington
Washington state mandates that all childcare staff counted in staff-to-child ratios complete adult and pediatric First Aid, adult and pediatric CPR, and infant CPR training, with a live hands-on component demonstrated in front of a certified instructor either in-person or remotely. Under RCW 28A.230.179, schools must provide CPR instruction to students. Coaches in public middle and high schools must hold current certification. The state accepts certifications from AHA, Red Cross, Health and Safety Institute, and other nationally recognized programs, with two-year renewal periods.
