Whether you need CPR certification for your job, to meet school requirements, or for personal preparedness, Vermont has accredited training centers offering American Red Cross, American Heart Association, and ASHI classes. Most classes include hands-on skills practice and take between 2–6 hours to complete. Certifications are typically valid for two years.
CPR & First Aid Requirements in Vermont
Vermont requires CPR and AED instruction as part of secondary school health education and, starting in the 2026-27 school year, Act 72 will require all schools to implement cardiac emergency response plans that include CPR/AED training. Licensed childcare staff must maintain current pediatric First Aid and infant/child CPR with hands-on practice, with at least one certified provider on-site at all times. Law enforcement officers must complete CPR and First Aid as part of their annual mandatory training. Both AHA and Red Cross BLS Provider certifications are accepted with two-year renewal periods.
