Whether you need CPR certification for your job, to meet school requirements, or for personal preparedness, Minnesota has accredited training centers offering American Red Cross, American Heart Association, and ASHI classes. Most classes include hands-on skills practice and take between 2–6 hours to complete. Certifications are typically valid for two years.
CPR & First Aid Requirements in Minnesota
Minnesota requires all licensed childcare programs to have at least one staff member trained in pediatric CPR on-site at all times under MN Statute 245A.40. Childcare staff must complete CPR training within 90 days of employment, and teachers and assistant teachers must renew every three years. High school students have been required to receive CPR training before graduation since 2014-2015. While K-12 teacher CPR requirements are set by individual school districts, most Minnesota employers require Lay Rescuer CPR, AED, and First Aid certification. Both AHA and Red Cross certifications are widely accepted.
